01 / The problem
The problem
I couldn't shake.
I didn't set out to build "another analytics product."
I set out to solve a coaching problem I lived with: we already capture the game — GameChanger exports, scorebooks, QAB and pitching charts, staff notes — and then most of that evidence dies in a folder or a screenshot thread. Stats tell you what happened. They rarely tell a staff what to prioritize in the next practice, or give a player one clear thing to work on.
So practice drifts. Player conversations get vague. Assistants aren't looking at the same story. And the best coaches compensate with hours of manual work that don't scale.

It is built to use the charts and exports you already take — not to replace your eye, and not to pick your lineup for you. The recommendation is explainable. The final call stays with the staff.
Softball first, on purpose: competitive staffs already live in charting and tournament volume. If the loop works here, it works.

Chris coaches Illusions Gold Elite 18U and serves as North Texas Regional Director for Illusions Gold Fastpitch. He has nearly 12 years at rec and select levels, from 10U through 18U, and has been at 18U since 2023. He also works in cybersecurity and AI — the same discipline that shapes how RATIO treats evidence, explanations, and athlete data. He's building RATIO with a small team and a guided beta of competitive coaches who will tell us what's actually useful every week — not what's impressive in a deck.
